Over the last few months I took an unintentional break from blogging. I’m not sure why, but I tend to be less productive during the summer months. It could be down to the excessive heat we had in the UK but my mood was definitely at a low. I think I have Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) except I experience it during summer instead of winter! But now we’re in October and I feel like I’ve come out of hibernation. I’m feeling a lot happier because like the basic bitch I am, I love October, November and December. There’s plenty of exciting things to look forward to in the upcoming months but I thought I would share a few things that have been making me happy recently.
I love a good Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks but this year Costa Coffee have upped their autumnal game and released a Bonfire Spiced Hot Chocolate. Honestly, it’s one of the tastiest hot chocolates I’ve ever had. It might not be to everyone’s taste, but give it a try if you can. You can also get a Bonfire Spice Latte, which sounds equally incredible.
Autumnal weather is my favourite. When the sky is blue, the sun is shining and there’s a cool, crisp, chill in the air. It’s so rare, which is why I love it. I think we’ve had about 3 days where the weather has been like that this year, in Liverpool at least. Which is why I had to appreciate it while I could. Until next autumn…
You can’t beat a good scented candle. I have them lit throughout the year, but there’s something about candles when the temperature starts to drop. They add to the cosiness of the home and just give that added warmth to a room. Not to mention the autumn and winter scents are amazing, I’m looking at you, Yankee Candle range.
Sorry guys, it’s true. The sight of anything pumpkin is making me so happy. I love carving pumpkins – ok not so much the smell, as the inside smells pretty horrendous. But I enjoy scrolling through Pinterest for all the inspiration to carve something a little different.
The best thing about Halloween for me is all the spooky snacks that come out. They’re probably aimed at children, but I’m a big kid so it’s all good. My favourite is the Soreen Chocolate & Blood Orange loaves. I really like Candy Corn too, and probably have all my American tv shows to thank for introducing me to it.
I know, I know, it’s still October. I’m not wishing the months away but I do get excited when I see anything Christmas related in shops. Christmas is my absolute favourite and instantly makes me happy.
Let me know what’s been making you happy recently.
