If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you will have seen that I went to Edinburgh recently. It has been on my list of places that I wanted to visit for a while. I’d heard so many good things about it and just knew it was the kind of place I would love. And I was right. I absolutely bloody love Edinburgh! It’s such a beautiful city and everywhere I looked I fell more in love. The buildings are so dreamy, everywhere was photogenic.
We dropped our bags off at the Airbnb and headed over to the castle. The surrounding area was stunning and the castle itself was incredible with amazing views of the city. The sun battled through the rain and made an appearance which was nice, as we managed to get photos of the Edinburgh scenery with both the gloomy clouds and lovely blue skies.
One thing I really loved about Edinburgh was the architecture. I love a good building and Edinburgh was full of them. We walked along the Royal Mile, which is definitely not a mile let me tell you! But it was lovely checking out the different pubs and shops, including a Christmas shop (there’s quite a few of these scattered around). I may have popped in and picked up a few Christmas decorations…
Later on we came across a bar called Frankenstein, which, as the name suggests, was a Frankenstein themed bar. It’s based in Edinburgh’s Old Town and has lots of horror decor, including electric static charges, vats of bubbling liquid and a gigantic Frankenstein to greet you at the door. They also show the original Frankenstein films too which adds to the quirky atmosphere.
Find out what we got up to on our second day in my next post. If you’ve been to Edinburgh, let me know what your favourite part was in the comments.
